Contemporary society moves at a blistering pace. New technologies replace centuries-old traditions. Environmental degradation intensifies as we treat finite resources as commodities to be traded and exhausted. Jessica Calderwood, Brent Cole, Jennifer Halvorson, and Jacinda Russell bring these two concepts together in the mediums of sculpture, metal, enamel, glass, and photography. In Waning Elements, they explore and expose the conflicts inherent in their processes as they address issues of labor, social disconnection, loss, and time.
