People surround themselves with items of comfort and security. The borders that we establish form our homes and communities, where memories are formed of our most precious connections, our family.

When evoking the home, I make reference to birds, whose reasons and methods of construction are focused on interior comfort and exterior security. I am inspired by the craft of their nests, and am interested in the consideration that is placed on the environmental surroundings, choice of materials, and placement of those materials. I am also interested in our own human constructions of safety and their decorative quality, which disguises their function. I hope to connect these two worlds by layering different forms and imagery in my work.
